Today in class you will be creating a manual for how to train an animal how to complete a task. This assignment is due Tuesday at the latest.

Your manual will include at least six of the following terms related to classical conditioning and/or operant conditioning:

classical conditioning (cc) -the learned pairing of an action with a stimulus
operant conditioning (OC) -modifying behavior by rewarding or punishing behavior in order to shape a particular outcome.
unconditioned response (CC) -an action/behavior that is not yet trained.
conditioned response (CC) -an action/behavior that is now owned/displayed/mastered.
unconditioned stimulus (CC) -something that will eventually be connected with a reaction/response.
conditioned stimulus (CC) -something that is connected to a reaction. Like you know that the bell means to change classes.
stimulus generalization (either) - all input (sound, taste, whatever) means the same thing. ex: all bells mean run outside and scream fire
higher-order conditioning (either) -
primary reinforcers (OC) -something you don't have to learn to love or hate. base biological needs.
secondary reinforcers (OC) - something that you learned to love or hate
negative reinforcement (OC) -removing a stimulus. ex: no homework, taking away cellphone.
positive reinforcement (OC) -introducing a stimulus. ex: spanking, a cupcake.
discriminative stimulus (either) -
reinforcement schedule (OC) -how often a reinforcement is introduced.
extinction (either) -forgetting
spontaneous recovery (either) -remembering
intermittent reinforcement schedule (OC) -offering positive or negative stimulus occasionally
constant reinforcement schedule (OC) -every time the desired action is performed, a positive or negative stimulus is presented.

You may write out your manual in bullet point form, you must however include and underline at least 6 of the above vocabulary terms. Please write up all the steps involved clearly. Yes, you may include terms to explain why you would not use them.

You received one of the following tasks when you entered the room:

Teaching a giraffe how to pick apples.
Teaching a puppy not to pee inside, but rather outside.
Teaching a cat to sleep on the floor, not on the couch.
Teaching a chimpanzee to open a door with a knob.
Teaching a pig to climb stairs.
Teaching a rat to push a doorbell.
Teaching a hamster to go through the maze.
Teaching a dolphin to jump through a hoop.
Teaching a sea lion to balance a ball on his nose.
Teaching a dog to take off a person’s socks.
Teaching a mouse to go down a hole.
Teaching a dolphin to nod its head up and down.
Teaching a horse to run in a circle without a lead.
Teaching a sheep to go through a gate.
Teaching a cow to push through a swinging open gate.
